Growing up near Los Angeles, I never really had full exposure to a “real” forest. I would go hiking up into the San Gabriel Mountains and would get some semblance of a forest. It wasn’t until I traveled up north to Olympic National Park and visited Quinault in November of 2017 that I realized how spectacular these scenes can be. They are dynamic, messy, and so incredibly hard to shoot. Since then I’ve revisited Olympic and it’s rain forests, Sequoia National Park , forests all along the coast of Oregon , and more. It’s so refreshing to be among these types of scenes and trying to pick out scenes among the chaos.
